I've been doing studies of blue herons just because it's such a thrill when we catch them sitting so warily in a marsh or lake nearby. Now I'm seeing pictures of them everywhere and on live webcams, and a friend has sent me photos he took this weekend. My dining room table is once again covered with works in progress!
the first two are on Fabriano 300# paper |
the color here is lighter than the painting for some reason, but I like this guy because it's from a photo taken in the Adirondacks last fall. Arches 140# |

These are a lovely brood, Christy. I particularly like the final one. The red tones in the background really highlight the bird so beautifully.
Thanks Vandy! I did more today in monochromatic colors. Thanks for visiting!
love the top one christy and wonderful bluey grey of the 2nd one .
They're all lovely, think I like the 2nd one best - I love herons, one of my favourite birds, thanks for sharing, I love your 'about me' text - hit the nail on the head!
Thanks Jane, I'm having a lot of fun with these! Their colors really vary on different herons here-some are smoky gray and some are so blue.
Hi Sharon, nice to meet you here and thanks for following! I do think it's such a thrill to find a heron poking around-they always think they're in hiding.
