October art shows

Two art shows coming up- October 10 11:00-4:00 at Joelle's Bistro in Skaneateles featuring local artists, including myself. Call to make brunch reservations. Is there anything better than art and food together?

The next is an artist's reception at the Sherwood Inn Saturday October 23 and Sunday October 24 from 1:00-5:00. This will be a single artist- me! Working hard to create a nice fall ambiance for the day-there will be wine and cheese, cider, maybe a fire if it's chilly. Hoping for nice weather so people can also make a nice afternoon of shopping, leaf peeping and lunch or dinner. Hope to see you!

Hey! Remember that lavender painting from the beginning postings? It found a life of its own this weekend at the 2010 Lavender Festival in Skaneateles. The image was used on volunteer t-shirts, and I made prints and notecards of it which sold out at my painting booth. It was such a nice thing to be a part of. There was a buzz in the air, some kind of intangible magic that you have to be there to experience. You can get an idea if you go to their lockwoodfarmblogspot.com. More later; still recovering form it all!

back in the saddle

I had to take time out from painting for a bit in order to take care of some family things. Art is always a part of you though, and it finds it's way back to the surface no matter how many times it gets pushed down. It makes me think of when we used to play in the lake, and somebody would dive down to the bottom with a rubber ball, and it always popped back up. We didn't know where or when exactly, but we knew it would.

The weather has made for a beautiful spring! Didn't have to go far to find some pretty flowers to experiment with.

Love fresh air

Eager to start painting outdoors again! This is one from last October; it was about 40 degrees and windy. I started it from the back of my Ford Escape and finished at home. It always feels like an adventure to paint outside.
