Summer sheep

I'm on a sheep kick lately as I just love their innocent look. They always make me stop and smile. These guys are from Lockwood Farm, site of the fabulous Lavender Festival in July. (I will have a booth there with up to 15 other artists. July 9-10 2011)

just fooling around here. Maybe develop into a Christmas card at some point-with a tree in back of the boat?

Christmas tree on the pier

I love the tree they put out on the pier over the lake every year, and so sad when they take it down. To me it's a symbol of the beauty and simplicity of the season. I'm trying to get it as a painting.

I'll be posting some washes I'm doing as a part of the 100 washes challenge on maggie latham's blog. It's a good time of year to cuddle up inside and experiment with things!

Art Reception

Sharing a few pix from my art reception at The Sherwood Inn. It was the first time I was the only featured artist; a little scary but worth all of the work! Many friends and new people came to share a glass of wine and view the two day show. The inn was so cozy, and everybody had a great time. It was a fun party and I didn't have to clean my house! Many thanks to my husband, sister, and friends for helping with the big weekend.

this is a wash that developed over bits of time last week. It is 6"x8" and I used aureolin, cobalt blue, alizarin crimson and burnt sienna. Mostly wet in wet, but left some parts of the paper dry to see what might happen. A little house appeared, then a stream, some rocks... and voila'-a little farmy scene somewhere in central New York.
